Raqs in the City is back this December with a powerful and intimate workshop experience featuring the stunning Jasirah from Poland. Formerly known as Belly Dance Essence Experience, this ongoing NYC-based series has evolved into Raqs in the City, a platform that brings internationally acclaimed dancers to the heart of Manhattan throughout the year—offering dancers a chance to train with masters, build community, and stay inspired before and after the New York Belly Dance Festival.

Join us on Sunday, December 14 at Ripley Grier Studios for a double workshop experience led by Jasirah, a celebrated performer and teacher known for her captivating energy and signature stylization.
Class Schedule:
3:00 – 4:30 PM – Jasirah Style: Learn Jasirah's signature technique, combinations, and expressive movement vocabulary rooted in deep musicality and elegance.
5:00 – 6:30 PM – Dynamic Drum Solo: Explore sharp accents, layering, and commanding stage presence in a playful and powerful drum solo session.
Workshops are open to all levels, and dancers can expect a warm, supportive environment designed to elevate both technique and confidence.

Jasirah is a dynamic belly dance artist and instructor from Poland, known for her powerful stage presence, precision technique, and distinct personal style. With years of experience performing across Europe and beyond, Jasirah has built a strong international following through her signature fusion of traditional Oriental dance with modern flair. As both a teacher and performer, she is celebrated for her expressive combinations, elegant lines, and passion for musical interpretation. Her workshops offer a deep dive into both technique and artistry, inspiring dancers to find their own voice through movement.
